TIPS for effective bidding on project

1. Read the project description carefully. After all, if the employer doesn’t feel you understand the project, you’re not likely to win the bidding. Besides, many employers will ask for specific details that you need to be aware of. In fact, employers often include a phrase that must be included in your bid in order to have it considered. The bottom line is, you should always take the time to go through the description thoroughly.

2. If you have questions, use the Project Clarification Board before you bid. Winning a project without knowing exactly what you’re getting into isn’t a good situation for you or the service buyer.

3. Keep your bid clear, concise and to the point. Remember that the employer may have dozens or even hundreds of bids to consider. It’s very likely that every word of every bid isn’t going to be read. Bids with unnecessarily long descriptions may be skipped over completely. Don’t invite the employer to ignore your bid by making it too wordy.

4. State your terms clearly. Using the project description as a guide, be as precise as possible in stating exactly what you’ll provide, how much it will cost, and how long it will take to deliver. Being vague about your terms implies a lack of confidence. If you’re not confident in yourself, the employer won’t be, either. As we’ve already mentioned, use the Project Clarification Board to ask the employer questions if you need more details.

5. Follow up with a private message. After you place your bid, use the private message board to provide more information. This is the appropriate place to add those less important details you avoided in your bid. After all, if your bid generated enough interest to get the employer this far, you’re halfway there. Now those details may make the difference.

6. It’s always a good idea to upload samples with your private message or provide links to online examples. Be sure, however, that your examples are appropriate for the job and represent your best work. Quality, not quantity is usually the rule of thumb when submitting samples.

7. A word of caution: Unless you’re prepared to give your work away, any samples you provide should bear a watermark or other means of identification or at the very least your name and a statement of copyright.

8. Be competitive with your pricing. Note that this doesn't necessarily mean you need to be the lowest bidder. Bidding in a world-wide marketplace makes for tough competition, but if your work is truly above average, you may find that employers are willing to pay above average prices. On the other hand, if you’re relatively new to freelancing, you may need to establish a reputation first. A little common sense will go a long way here.

9. Don’t oversell yourself. A little self-confidence is a good thing, but over-the-top claims probably won’t impress anyone. Being frank and honest about your skills will get you much farther than a lot of hype.

10. Last, but certainly not least, proofread your bid before you submit it. Is it written clearly? Are there misspellings? No matter what kind of project you’re bidding on, a poorly written proposal suggests a lack of interest and poor work habits. Neither of those is going to work in your favor.

Layout changed in Freelancer

Today when I went to freelancer and there was this new interface, I liked this new interface. The aesthetic look is very cool. On the right side there is side bar which shows how many freelancer professionals are registered, how much is being earned so far and how many projects have been completed. Now thats cool.

When you go at the bottom there is this graphical representation for new comers that how freelancer actually works. The icons used are of high pixels which nicely blends with the over all flavor of the site.

Here is the graphical representation, the picture depicts all.

Commission

When you register as free member or as gold member. When ever you win a project, commission will be taken but there is difference.
1. For regular projects, employers are charged 3% or $3 which ever is greater on choosing the worker. Gold member pay 0 %.

2. Freelancer pay 10% or $5 which ever is greater on winning the project. Gold members pay 3%.

You must keep in mind that GST will be applied, that would be according to law.

Registration

To start making money on freelancer, first you have to make your self registered to the site. There are two types of registration one for employer and other for freelance worker. If you are an employer and want to post your project than you first have to get registered along with $5 of fee for posting the project, in these days it's free. why there is fee for posting the project? The only answer I got is to stop spamming, if there is fee then only serious employers will post their project.
The second part of registration is of freelancers The best part of registration is that its free, the registration part is not that difficult. When you will be in registration there will be a part whether you want to become gold member or not. It's optional but my suggestion is that you take the gold member. Why ? because if you are gold member and when you place a bid on some project the employer can see your status as gold member and he knows that you are serious worker and it gives an intuition that you will do the work.
It makes sense you know if there all are freelancers bidding on project and all are free registered, to make your mark it would be difficult but if you are gold member it can be seen as serious worker.
My suggestion to you would be that first don't buy gold membership. First win the project without being as gold member, if you won project start working then when payment comes pay some part for gold membership.

Categories

In the freelancer.com there are different categories to where you can search and do work according to your own skills. There are ten different types of categories in the broadest sense. The first one is Websites,IT related this category is related to engineering side so if you are software engineer, website designer, tester, cloud computing some thing like that then this category is for you. This section is the longest I mean there is almost hundred sub categories in it.
The second one is Mobile Phones, if you are developer of phone applications for like iPhone, iPad, galaxy tab, symbion software etc, this part is for you, even for developing an iPhone application you can earn as much as $2000 but it will really take hard work to win that specific project.
The third one is Writing and Content if you have very good English grammar, you can write the same article with different wordings but with same meaning, you can earn here very easily it only depends on your grammar, I won a project on this part, even if you are not native English speaker you can still win project all you need is grammar thats all.
The fourth one is the Design section. If you are in love with photography, if you do Photoshop, Dreamweaver expert, you can make excellent Word Templates, blog design, T-shirt design. I mean this section involves with design and ideas, if you are good at making designs, pictures, editing, layouts, colors. Then this section is for you my friend.
On the fifth, its the Data entry related section, if you are not that much skilled worker but you can sit for 6-8 hours daily on the internet and have good typing skills, then this section is for you. It involves different types of data entry work, like Captcha entry work, excel work, data processing, link coping, copy and pasting. In this section you can easily win a project but one thing that you must keep in mind the target given to you must be meet on daily basis other wise there is going to be no payment and always ask for GAF payment in here. In later section I will tell you what is GAF payment method.
The sixth section is related to Engineering and Science, now personally this is not my kind of section, because I am not good at maths :(, if you are good at Algorithm, instrumentation design, wireless design making, Geology then you can harvest your skills here.
The seventh section is related to Sourcing and Manufacturing, if you are supplier or if you want to ship some goods to other parts of the world and don't know how to do it, then this section is for you, this section is specifically for whole sellers and buyers. Companies which need raw material or supplies or they need new source at low price, this section is for them, so if you own a company and need to find supplies, raw material then this section is waiting for you.
The eighth section is related to Marketing, if you believe that you are good at branding a product or service, you can sell anything on eBay, you can make leads better than others, you are good at ad sense then you can start your carrier from here with unlimited potential.
The Ninth section is related to business and accounting, if you are good at accounting, law, human resource, auditing, if you know rules about Visa/Immigration , if you know about property law in particular area, if you can design and arrange an event. Then this is your side, if you are an MBA then you can and you believe that you can do it better than you can try your luck here.
The last section is of Others any thing which does not fit in the above nine categories/sections then it falls in this area.

Australia`s Freelancer site

There are lots of people trying to find jobs online, like data Entry, Ads posting, copy and paste jobs etc etc that they can use to earn extra money.

Yes, it`s true that these type of work do exist but on the internet there is lots and lots of garbage and from that you have to find the right website/company that can really work for you.

I like most of the people was searching for online work during my extra time, I searched a lot and mostly website that i came across needed money for registration, I said "what?", seriously these are all scams! why? because you are the one who is looking to make money not the other way around, think about this you go for an interview for a job and the interviewer say to you that I will give you job but you have to pay xxx amount of money to me to get inside the organization, you will say to yourself that what is he talking about, I need the money you (employer) need my skills not my money, same situation is for the online work.

Doing my lots of search on online websites, I came across this nice website which is Freelancer actually, It`s totally free, but the catch is this that you have to make the employer convince that you are the worthy one. Actually its a marketplace where there are thousands and thousands of employers and freelancers. If an employer needs some work to be done like he needs to make a website he/she will post a project on the website and now different people come and bid on the project, if the bid that you did is most reasonable the project is awarded to you and then you start working on it and you submit it and payment is released to you, simple isn't it?

I will be posting more and more on this website as I discover more and more about it.

Here is the link to website you can go and check it.The link has my user name because I started as an affiliate freelance worker for this company I liked the idea of this company thats why I am also promoting it, if you like something you should promote it too, right? After all I am also freelancer :)
