To start making money on freelancer, first you have to make your self registered to the site.There are two types of registration one for employer and other for freelance worker. If you are an employer and want to post your project than you first have to get registered along with $5 of fee for posting the project, in these days it's free. why there is fee for posting the project? The only answer I got is to stop spamming, if there is fee then only serious employers will post their project.
The second part of registration is of freelancers The best part of registration is that its free, the registration part is not that difficult. When you will be in registration there will be a part whether you want to become gold member or not. It's optional but my suggestion is that you take the gold member. Why ? because if you are gold member and when you place a bid on some project the employer can see your status as gold member and he knows that you are serious worker and it gives an intuition that you will do the work.
It makes sense you know if there all are freelancers bidding on project and all are free registered, to make your mark it would be difficult but if you are gold member it can be seen as serious worker.
My suggestion to you would be that first don't buy gold membership. First win the project without being as gold member, if you won project start working then when payment comes pay some part for gold membership.
